The TRS-5100 (Marco) is a digital refraction technology that allows the physician to control the refraction process with a lap-sized keypad. With the TRS-5100, the surgeon can remain comfortably seated throughout the examination, reducing repetitive stress injuries. According to company literature, the surgeon can preprogram the entire refraction process to increase efficiency.
When combined with Marco's OPD-Scan III Refractive Power/Corneal Analyzer, the TRS- 5100 delivers a completely different approach to traditional refraction. The OPD measures the integrity of the patient's optical pathway, generates more than 20 diagnostic measurements in 10 seconds per eye, and determines in less than 1 minute which patients will require minimal corrections or full refractive workups to achieve 20/20 vision. The TRS-5100 then rapidly completes all refractions and allows immediate verification of the patient's old versus new prescriptions. Together, these technologies generate a comprehensive understanding of the patient's total visual system in a fraction of the time of traditional refraction systems.
