M-Series Angled Disposable Slit Knives
Accutome has added the M-Series Angled Disposable Slit Knives to its AccuSharp Series of Ophthalmic Surgical Knives. The M-Series is made of the highest quality stainless steel and features a “teardrop” bevel design for superior sharpness, according to the company. The knives provide surgeons with a 2-mm-depth indicator to help generate proper wound architecture. For sharps safety, each blade locks into a protective plastic case. The M-Series comes in a variety of sizes compatible with the latest microincision cataract procedures.
The OphtaCath (FCI Ophthalmics) is a balloon catheter that dilates the lacrimal duct and rapidly and effectively treats symptoms of epiphora. According to the company, OphtaCath is a less invasive alternative to incisional procedures such as dacryocystorhinostomy and eliminates the placement of tubes, resulting in less trauma. OphtaCath comes packaged sterile in 2- or 3-mm kits with one or two balloon catheters and an easy-to-use disposable inflation device. The tapered tip and very low profile allows for easy insertion and removal of the balloon catheter. The balloon features shape memory before and after inflation and is resistant to burst pressure. The semiflexible balloon ensures a progressive inflation and precision.
