• Identifies common visual problems associated with nighttime
• A customized lens can be created to help eliminate glare and halos
• Subjectively refracts patients at their natural nighttime pupil

Vmax Vision, Inc., introduced the nighttime refraction feature for its PSF (Point Spread Function) Refractor at the 2012 ASCRS meeting in Chicago. According to the company, this function gives clinicians the ability to identify common visual problems associated with nighttime. The refractive data can be used to create a customized Encepsion lens (Vmax Vision, Inc.), which helps to eliminate glare and halos at night. The PSF Refractor uses point spread function-based principles to correct the smallest of refractive errors and neutralize higher-order aberrations. Each patient receives a refractive measurement with a reported accuracy of 0.05 D. The PSF subjectively refracts patients at their natural nighttime pupil, instead of using a mathematical calculation.
