Head Mounted Perimetry

NovaVision, Inc. (Boca Raton, FL), introduced the Head Mounted Perimetry (HMP)—a portable, wireless device that aids in the profes- sional assessment and early detection of glaucoma, ambly- opia, and visual field deficits. The HMP features an intuitive touch screen user interface, two speed settings, and a diamond-shaped screen- ing grid. It uses a suprathreshold three-zoned strategy to produce a 60o X 44o field, which generates a report that allows physicians to evaluate whether patients have any suspect areas requiring further evaluation. Additionally, the devices measure the visual field in increments of 4o as opposed to 6o, which allows physicians to detect disease states earlier than currently marketed screening tools, according to a company news release.

Single-Use Vitreoretinal Instruments

Bausch + Lomb Storz Ophthalmic Instruments (Aliso Viejo, CA) launched several new products to expand its line of single-use vit- reoretinal instruments. The new Passive Aspiration Handpiece is packaged ready for use with an attached soft- tipped cannula for passive aspiration of fluid during intraocular procedures. The soft silicone tip of the cannula is designed with atraumatic aspira- tion capabilities. The new Membrane Pick is designed with a 130o angled tip and nonglare finish on the shaft of the instrument. The com- pany also introduced the E7523 23-gauge MVR Knife, two new 25-gauge Bipolar Pencils, the E7924 Bipolar Pencil with Tapered Tip and two-pin connection, and the E7925 Bipolar Pencil with Blunt Tip and two-pin connection.
