INNOVATIONS

A-Scan Plus 4.20
Accutome, Inc. (Malvern, PA), announced the launch of its new A-Scan Plus 4.20 for measuring and calculating the power of premium IOLs. According to the company, the A-Scan Plus has high-quality resolution and a large screen size for precise, reproducible axial length measurements. Its alignment detection feature reportedly eliminates marginally aligned scans, while automatic personalization of lens constants is designed to achieve superior surgical outcomes.

FEMTO LDV Crystal Line
Ziemer Group (Port, Switzerland) unveiled its FEMTO LDV Crystal Line femtosecond surgical laser, which has a pulse rate of more than 5 million pulses per second. Its crystal-tuned, wavefront-optimized, high-numerical aperture optics reportedly focus the laser beam on a tissue volume of less than 2 μm across for a smooth dissection at just a few nanojoules of laser pulse energy. According to a news release, this technology achieves ideal dissection of tissue with minimal thermal effect, trauma, and edema in the corneal tissue. The FEMTO LDV Crystal Line is designed to allow surgeons to dissect stromal tissue close to Bowman’s or Descemet’s membrane, without inflicting damage on epithelial or endothelial cells.
