The following letter refers to the article “Positive Pressure” by William J. Fishkind, MD, that appeared in our October 2009 edition.
In my article, there are inadequate references. I did not give the appropriate credit to Paul Arnold, MD, who wrote a wonderful book chapter titled “Positive Pressure.”1 I encourage readers to review his chapter for further, in-depth information. I apologize to Dr. Arnold for the lack of required references to his excellent work.

The following letter refers to “Point/Counterpoint on the Health Care Debate: What Does the New Legislation Mean to Physicians and Patients?” by Roger F. Steinert, MD, and Priscilla P. Arnold, MD, on behalf of the Executive Committee of the ASCRS and John F. Doane, MD. The article appeared in our January 2010 edition.
I read with greater-than-avid interest the point/
counterpoint on the health care debate. I will make my
comment brief and to the point: Dr. Doane has it exactly
right. His presentation was intelligent and principled, and
he unequivocally states what the vast majority of
Americans understand and what our politicians are now
relearning. We want them to get out of the way and let
us take care of ourselves to the fullest extent possible.
