Rayner Receives FDA Approval for C-flex Aspheric IOL,CE Mark for Sulcoflex Multifocal Toric IOL

Rayner Intraocular Lenses Limited (Hove, United Kingdom) announced it has received FDA approval for its C-flex aspheric 970C IOL and CE Mark approval for the Sulcoflex Multifocal Toric IOL.

The C-flex, made from hydrophilic acrylic material, has an enhanced square edge for reduced posterior capsular opacification. According to the company, the lens also incorporates antivaulting haptic technology, which allows for improved fixation within the capsular bag, strong centration of the lens, and reduced twisting or buckling. The lens will be available in 0.50 D increments in the power range of 18.00 to 30.00 D.

Sulcoflex supplementary IOLs are designed to be implanted in the ciliary sulcus as an addition to a primary lens already present in the capsular bag. Rayner now offers aspheric, toric, multifocal, and multifocal toric lenses in the European Union under the Sulcoflex brand.

The company expects to release the Sulcoflex Multifocal Toric IOL during the first quarter of 2012.
